  • Gather the business people of Harnett County to develop the strategies & focus that will allow the Chamber of Commerce to assist in stimulating their growth & attracting economic growth producing entities to Harnett and more specifically,

  • Easy access to regional and national markets via I-95, I-40, & Hwys 1, 24, 27, 87, 210, & 421.
  • RTP and RDU are less than an hour away; Fayetteville's airport is half that.


  • Situated less than two hours from the coast and five hours from the mountains.

  • 2005 Population: 104,103
  • 8th fastest growing county in NC
  • 24th largest county in NC out of 100.

  • Five municipalities – Dunn, Erwin, Angier, Lillington, Coats –
    24% of population lives in a municipality
  • Three townships –Barbeque, Johnsonville, Anderson Creek, – estimated 29% of county population

2005 Housing Numbers
  • 32 subdivisions were approved representing 2,318 lots in Harnett County
  • Anderson Creek (312) & Barbeque (259) townships had the highest application rates for single-family dwellings in the county. Third was Hector’s Creek (106)
  • 79% of single family home permits were issued in the west part of the county.

  •    Growth increase from 2003-2004 was 3k vehicles per day.  Extrapolating this number through 2006, traffic flow should increase by +6k.   “Growth increase” should have increased at a faster rate. 
    The +6k total volume should be higher.
